QR Works Privacy Policy

Overview

QR & Barcode Scanner Maker (QR Works, "we", "the app") is published by Yoraba. This policy describes how the app handles information on iOS and Android. We do not require an account and we do not operate a backend. There are no analytics SDKs. Your data stays on your device, except for the map, address search and advertising traffic described below.

Information stored on your device

Scan and create history is stored locally. Delete items or clear all history in Settings.
Wi-Fi passwords you choose to remember are stored in encrypted on-device storage (Keychain on iOS, encrypted preferences on Android). They are never uploaded.

Permissions

Each permission is requested only when you use the related feature.

Camera: used only while you are on the Scan tab to read codes.
Location (when in use): used only when you choose to fill a map position or Wi-Fi name on a create screen. No background tracking.
Photo library (iOS): read access only for photos you pick to scan; add-only access to save a created code as a PNG when you tap Save.
Contacts: you choose a person in the system contact picker to fill a contact code. The app does not read your address book in bulk.
Nearby Wi-Fi (Android): used to list nearby networks when you open the Wi-Fi picker on the create screen.
SMS import (Android, READ_SMS): used only when you tap import to find a code in your messages. Messages are read on your device and are never uploaded.

Map and address search

When you use the location picker, the map area or search query you enter is sent to the map provider: Apple Maps (MKLocalSearch) on iOS, and OpenStreetMap tile servers plus the system Geocoder on Android. These providers handle that data under their own privacy policies. We do not receive it.

Advertising

The app shows Google AdMob banner ads on the Create and History screens only. Ads are not shown on Scan, Settings, or the Tip Jar, and not after you leave any tip.

AdMob may collect device identifiers and ad interaction data according to Google's privacy policy and your device settings (including App Tracking Transparency on iOS). You can limit personalised ads:

Purchases

The Tip Jar offers four one-time tips (Coffee, Cake, Lunch, Feast). Any tip removes ads. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google; we do not receive your payment card details. The platform shares purchase entitlement with the app so it can remove ads.

Children's privacy

QR Works is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date will change. Continued use of the app after updates means you accept the changes.
